THE BIG HAWERA CLEAN UP Every year the South Taranaki Council holds a swap week ,where you can put out on your road frontage anything that you no longer need..As long as two men can lift it ,then it can be put out..Crowds of cars and trailers, utes and station waggons .scourer the town looking for something they can find a use for..Maybe they only want a part off something..Then they put it back out for someone else .This is all left on the street for about 7 to 10 days, then what has not been taken, is collected and dumped by the council. This is a wonderful service to the community as a lot of elderly people have no other means of getting rid of this sort of stuff, No greenery is allowed to be put out..The following photos show some of the stuff put out..

All new furniture for this house. Its an education to drive around and see what has been put out,

As long as two men can lift it,you can put it out..A lazy boy chair ,a freezer, away it goes .

This lot looks interesting. Chair, Carpet sweeper. Still lots of goodies here..The council starts there pick up tomorrow.

One starts to wonder have they kept any furniture in there house

A very good way to recycle your rubbish..Some really good stuff is put out and you see cars and trailers going round town looking for bits and pieces.

Lots of goodies to be found .Time to clean out the cupboards .and sheds
