This is the Year of the Veteran Statue that was unveiled this morning ,,the 21st April 2007 at the South Taranaki RSA Hawera.It was unveiled By the District President - Glover Anderson- of Hawera. Turangapito Parata--Karakia-- And Rev David Self- Blessings and Prayers..It was attended by members of the 5th South Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment..The police..South Taranaki RSA Members and members of the South Taranaki Community

Thanks for the posting Jan - Makes us old Hawera folk nostaglic for ANZAC Day. Mt brother played the Last Post in the mid 60s, as a young cornet player. We went every year as Brownies and Guides - as well as the cubs and scouts. Those days are well remembered - the laying of the wreathes from various groups, the Dawn parade and the old soldiers.
